WHAT A WONDERFUL END TO 2016

We were blessed with the successful and well received launches of 7 new Mini-Libraries, 10 awareness events and 9 training events in the Eastern Cape, in which fifty four Library staff and 2 Community services officials were trained on the Mini-Library services and JAWS, as well as 10 blind and partially sighted champions.

South African Library for the Blind (SALB) hosted events in Komga, Mt Frere, Mbizana, Stutterheim, Addo, Adelaide, Fort Beaufort, Barkly East, Ncgobo, New Brighton and Queenstown with trainees joining from Mdantsane, Motherwell, Mt Ailiff, Lusikisiki, Peddie, King William’s Town, Kirkwood and Sterkspruit.

This adds to our growing network of Mini-Libraries in almost every province of South Africa.

Each launch was treated as an event by the receiving municipalities and our thanks go out to them for helping to make the launches such a success.

See the events from the launches to illustrate how important the Mini-Libraries are in the communities and to how SALB trains the librarians and staff of each Mini-Library on how the systems work and how to interact and assist Blind and Visually Impaired members of the public.
