Annual Report highlights

The South African Library for the Blind in Grahamstown submitted its latest Annual Report to the Department of Arts & Culture for the 2017/2018 Financial Year which will be tabled in Parliament before the end of 2018.

WE ARE PROUD TO SHARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS IN THE REPORTS WITH YOU:

  • Received an unqualified audit report from the Auditor General of the Eastern Cape;
  • Achieved 95% of annual objectives;
  • Registered 818 new members bringing the total membership to 7,047;
  • Established 30 additional Mini-Library service points in public libraries across South Africa bringing the total number of Mini-Libraries to 150;
  • Added 590 Braille titles and 465 audio titles to the collection, and
  • Circulated 129,000 items to our members.

Update on the new Library Management System:

The teams from Universal Knowledge Software (UKS) and SALB are busy finalising the outstanding modules and the system should be up and running tentatively by end October 2018.

In the meantime the Circulation Staff continue to manually select books based on your reading interests.
